Tribute Fest Rides the Waves of Classic Hits and Timeless Tunes

Mark your calendars for a musical event on August 25th & 26th  where the greatest legends of music come alive once more. This year’s Tribute Fest turns back the hands of time as we experience yet again the magic of classic hits performed by talented tribute artists.

Tribute Fest is more than just a music celebration. It’s a harmonious gathering that resonates a heartfelt cause, while the festival’s main stage will echo with the timeless tunes of legendary artists whose impact extends far beyond the music.

Music for a Cause Rallies to Support Homeless Veterans

For over 25 years, Tribute Fest is dedicated to supporting homeless veterans who bravely fought and risked their lives for this country as we continue to enjoy our freedom. As fans gather to relive the magic of iconic melodies, they’re also contributing to a vital mission by aiding those who’ve served overseas and now find themselves without a place to call home.

Alternatively, tribute festivals provide a platform for talented tribute bands and musicians to showcase their skills. These performers invest significant effort into replicating the sound, style, and stage presence of the artists they’re paying tribute to. Up-and-coming talents can use this event as an avenue to support local music scenes that feature local or regional tribute bands and exposure for emerging artists. It can also be a launching pad for these bands to gain wider recognition.

So, if you’re ready to groove to the beats of history and be part of a meaningful cause, save the date for this year’s Tribute Fest. Make your lodging arrangements ahead at one of the top Duluth lodge destinations in Minnesota. Secure your spot in the heart of the action at the Inn on Lake Superior before the Tribute Fest sweeps the town. Don’t miss the chance to wake up to breathtaking lakeside views just steps away from the festival’s rhythms.

Exploring Gitche Gumee, the Mighty Lake Superior

Did you know that Gitche Gumee is a legendary Ojibwe name for Lake Superior which means “Great Sea” in English? It has a surface area of 31,700 square miles, and an estimated depth of 1,333 feet making it the largest and the deepest of the Great Lakes.

Lake Superior holds a fascinating abundant history that goes back thousands of years formed by a multitude of cultures, exploration, trade, and its road to shaping into the sophistication of modern society. The cultural connection between Ojibwe (the American Indians that inhabited the region around Lake Superior) and Lake Superior runs deep as the people’s way of life revolves around the great lake for food, transportation, and spiritual relevance.

The magnificence of Lake Superior and its strategic location for trade has attracted many European explorers. Its connection from North America to the Great Lakes region made it a vital route for fur traders, which eventually led to the establishment of fur trading posts along its shores. The trade paved the way for European settlers to interact with the natives which greatly influenced the economic development of the region. Like the rest of the world, Lake Superior underwent a lot of changes in its landscape resulting from industrialization, yet maintained its natural beauty, and the Ojibwe’s cultural fabric is still celebrated by indigenous communities to this day.

Help us answer the age-old debate: Is it ever too early to decorate for Christmas? For us, the answer is it’s never too early! Bentleyville Tour of Lights starts on Saturday, November 18th so we wanted to welcome our guests coming to see that great holiday display with Christmas decorations of our own.

We started with our main lobby where the aromas of an 11 foot Fraser Fir and hot apple cider welcome you into a cozy seating area with a glowing fireplace, holiday children’s books, Christmas ornament tic tac toe, soft holiday stockings, and as always our two life-size nutcrackers that guard the entrance.

Fireplace Decorated for Christmas

Across from the front desk, a candy cane themed Christmas tree offers complimentary candy canes to children and adults alike. Near the hot apple cider, we have a peppermint themed countdown to Christmas: only 38 more days to go!

Entering the pool area, one cannot help but think… Santa! This tree is decked out with a skirt resembling Santa’s boots, ornaments with his face on them, and a Santa hat at the very top. Our favorite piece of this tree is the garland that looks like Santa’s clothesline. Nearby is our holiday photo booth where you can take a selfie looking like a snowman or Rudolph. For younger children, we have cards and a mailbox for sending Santa their Christmas list. He might even reply back!

Kids Mail

For our guests visiting Bentleyville, we have our complimentary shuttle to and from Bayfront park equipped with Christmas music and extra candy canes. The shuttle will be running exclusively for Bentleyville every day of the week including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Be sure to sign up the morning of to reserve your spot.

Also, hot chocolate and coffee are available in our breakfast area 24/7—perfect enjoying an early sunrise over Lake Superior or warming up after Bentleyville.

30 gallons of ice cream,

444 ice cream cups,

34 bottles of soda,

14 cans of whipped cream,

And 3 days of fun!

We celebrated the brave men and women who served our country as well as the kickoff to summer by dishing up ice creams floats over Memorial Day weekend. It was a nice time for us to step away from the office work to visit with our guests face-to-face.

The Inn on Lake Superior Duluth MN Memorial Weekend

During the entire weekend, a red, white, and blue themed photo booth welcomed our guests and encouraged them to snap memories of their time at the Inn. After taking pictures, guests enjoyed a beautifully decorated lobby and fireplace to warm up during the few brief rain storms.

However, rain was not a deterrent for ice cream floats. Over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we scooped hundreds of root beer, strawberry, and orange floats. Providing families with quality time together is what our job is all about, and it was great to see little ones all the way up to grandparents spoon and slurp a delicious float.

After the floats and between the bouts of rain, many guests enjoyed our newly refinished bean bag toss games in our backyard. We’re so fortunate to have a massive expanse of lawn to enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Superior. If not playing bean bag toss, other guests checked out our complimentary bikes that are now available for the entire summer.

The Inn on Lake Superior Memorial Day Weekend 2017

Thank you to all of our guests who stayed with us. We are looking forward to the great summer months ahead!
